Shari Bray Ceramics

Shari Decorating PlatterWelcome to my web site!

My ceramic work includes a variety of decorative processes.

I feature works using the raku firing process - although they are not your typical raku pieces. I feature works fired using "the Poor Man's Saggar Firing process".  Those are both low fire finishes (cone 06) and are decorative.

Thanks to Paul Andrew Wandless, who first introduced me to printing on clay in a workshop in Las Vegas Nevada, and, first introduced me to Velvet Underglazes, which have resulted in some wonderful colorful changes to my work overall. Next, I owe a debt of gratitude to Victoria Pamlenyi, who taught me a printing process to use to print on clay at another workshop during the 2019 Clay Con West conference.  In the gallery, there are print examples that are both low fire (cone 06) and mid-range (cone 5).

When I lived in Las Vegas, I focused on Raku and Saggar.  When I moved to Shelton, Washington, I began to use mid-range clay and make more functional ware.  My clay journey has taken me to different places, processes and temperatures.  I like to think that whatever process I used, I learned the process and then found my own voice.  I made the process my own, with results that were different than other artists. I believe that my work is unique.  My raku is not typical.  My printing on clay is not like others'.

I hope you enjoy looking at it.
